It was a long drive from Forks, Washington to Madrid, New Mexico 1615 miles to be exact. Phew! We were exhausted when we got here. It took us 2 big Budget trucks and a trailer full of things and a lot of good friends helping us pack to get us on our way. We were so thrilled to finally arrive that we just wanted to start unloading, but that was not going to happen. Life isn't always what you want... We knew when we bought the farm that we were going to have to work hard to make it happen. Well we sure hit the ground running. When we drove up, the septic tank was out of the ground, and we couldn't unload our things because the house was filled with lovely rats and mice since it had been empty so long. Unfortunately, the trucks had to be turned back in! So we bleached the main hallway and threw a couple mattresses down on the floor. There are no appliances so we can't cook yet, so we are in bad camp, but we are just making do! We are unloading the boxes outside the weather is supposed to be good, and we can clean quickly to get the boxes inside and we are putting the furniture under the carport next to the workshop. Everything is going to workout just grand!
